When Rock Sound met with Paramore on the opening nights of their UK tour we thought we would be discussing success, fame and the joys of being a band on top of their game. Instead we discussed schedules, pressure and the ever present possibility that the band could be falling apart. Paramore were tired, solemn and unrecognisably quiet. We knew things were not well, little did we know how close to the edge the band were.

''I feel like no matter how much stuff we turn down more things come in to replace them,'' remarked Paramore bassist Jeremy Davis who was visibly tired. In fact he was absolutely knackered. But he was not the only one in the band suffering under the pressure of their relentless schedule.

''We have to keep telling ourselves it is a good thing,'' admitted guitarist Josh Farro. ''A lot of bands are killing for the opportunities we get but we have to learn to pace ourselves.''

''Right now the biggest challenge is fighting for time off,'' continued Paramore vocalist and Rock Sound’s Most Inspirational Female of 2007 Hayley Williams. ''We did not get any last year so we all went crazy. We started by taking it in turns to go crazy but that eventually got us into fighting a lot. We know we need to be thankful for what we have, we are. But it is hard to figure out the line of being grateful for it and knowing that if you take everything you are offered you will not last doing it. We want to stay in this.''

She said the last words deliberately, like there was a genuine chance the band could fall apart. Did they? Are they? Have they?
