Shame how all good things must come to an end. Eighteen months without a tour, a single on the radio or an album from Simple Plan has passed in the blink of an eye and now they are back. Joy. The good news is that their self-titled release is not the same turgid pop-punk the band have been peddling for the past five years. However, it’s still as crappy as everything else the band have ever released. Once again the album is heavily produced, overly sincere and too calculated to feel like a real expression of anything other than market share and morose adolescent emotion. Does anyone care?
