Genghis Tron are heading to the UK in May on a Rock Sound sponsored tour, we caught up with keyboard player and drum programmer Michael Sochynsky to get a feel for what the dates might be like...
Are you going to be doing anything new on the UK tour?
''Yes! In addition to playing a bunch of new songs we also have a brand new light show. We are trying to figure out how were going to get it across the Atlantic, but we will find a way. We also have becoming a much better live band since we last came to the UK. We now have an expanded live set up with more keyboards than there are band members.''
What are the least and most pleasant tour experiences for an American band touring the UK?
''For me this is a very easy question. The most pleasant part is the great hospitality all the promoters provide for US bands. We get hummus at every show! The downside is that UK bathrooms are really fucking gross. Get it together England and scrub the toilets every once in a while!''
How would you describe the GT live experience to a scenester contemplating whether to come down to the show to see you?
''Specifically to a scenester? Well if they are looking to get their mosh on and wear mesh shorts and headbands (or whatever defines a scenester) then they should probably go somewhere else. But if they want to hear something new and interesting (not just us but also Nachtmystium and Zoroaster) then they should come on down and have their minds potentially blown. Three awesome bands from the US all bringing something unique to the bill. We're stoked and I feel confident that the contemplating scenesters will make the
right decision.''
What is the most embarrassing thing to happen to you onstage?
''The worst is when the keyboard doesn't make the sound its supposed to. Blasting a distorted squelch in the middle of a quiet pretty part is just the worst.''
