Rock Sound is a sucker for new music and when we caught wind of an eighteen year old kid from Texas doing the whole electro laptop melodic experimental pop thing we had to get him on the blower to find out what inspired him to make the music he does. So, without further ado, here is Dan Hunter's (he of Playradioplay!) top ten influential albums...

1. Grandaddy - Sophtware Slump
This is the album I've been listening to most recently. Too bad they broke up a few years ago.

2. Secret Machines - Now Here is Nowhere
I remember seeing these guys on Letterman or something several years ago. I bought the album and HATED it! I found it a year later, popped it in and listened to it, and it became a favorite.

3. Electric President - Electric President
I don't remember how I stumbled across this band. This is a solid record, although the first have is a lot better than the second half.

4. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Anyone that listened to the radio in the 90's has to admit Smashing Pumpkins was an influence. This record is a masterpiece.

5. Arcade Fire - Funeral
A friend showed me this record in High School and I fell in love with it. Neon Bible, their newer record, is great too.

6. Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket
I guess this one is a tad embarrassing, but seriously, who didn't listen to pop punk in 7th grade?? I'm a victim, I tell you.

7. Annuals - Be He Me
This was my favorite record of last year. Adam Baker is amazing. Production on this record is very unique.

8. Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret
Speaking of what I listened to back in the 90's: I didn't listen to Built To Spill. I was too young at the time, I guess, but I'm glad I discovered them in the past few years.

9. Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
Death Cab is one of those bands that always makes 'safe' records. But who cares? Everything they've done has been solid.

10. The Killers - Sam's Town
I HATED this record at first. But after a hundred listens or so, I began to appreciate Brandon Flowers' genius.
