Brit rockers Brigade are heading out on tour at the mo, we collared frontman Will Simpson to inquire of his band's intentions...
Are you going to be doing anything new on the tour?
''Lots of new material which we are very excited about playing. It'll be nice to bring out the big riffs on this tour and concentrate on the darker side of the new album! We've been playing songs from 'Lights' since we started the band in 2003 and so it's refreshing to be able to mix things up a bit now. We're really proud of the new songs so it's a great opportunity to showcase them to an audience who will hopefully be familiar with us already.''
What are the least and most pleasant tour experiences for a band touring the UK in the manner that you do?
''The least pleasant experiences revolve around the term 'toilet venue'! When you are hanging around them all day it can do your head in after a while, plus not eating properly and relying on kebab shops and service stations is a downer. But on the plus side at least the drives are never massive (compared to what American bands have to put up with), Travelodges feel like 5 star hotels when you are mentally fucked and there is no better feeling than when you play a venue that has an awesome sound system, the crowd are in good form, and you pull of a great show.''
How would you describe the Brigade live experience to a scenester contemplating whether to come down to the show to see you?
''I would say our live show is epic, energetic & tuneful but would tell them to expect to be completely baffled for the following reasons: 1. There are only 4 of us. 2. We all play instruments and don't stand on the monitors. 3. We don't wear make up and didn't spend 2 hours straightening our hair. 4. We spend much more time concentrating on creating a mammouth wall of melodic rock than attempting to start a mosh pit.''
What is the most embarrassing thing to happen to you onstage?
''We played a festival last year and during a rock out moment I managed to trip on my guitar lead and fell on my arse like a complete fool. The results were perfectly captured by a photographer and ended up in a national rock magazine for all to smirk at.''
