When you christen your rock’n’roll group HORSE The Band, employ synthesisers and vintage computer consoles to kick out your jams, and have to make up a whole new genre to describe your sound, you’re allowed to be a little crazy. Hell, people are going to demand it. How disappointing then that here, on the original nintendocore outfit’s third album, things sound distinctly normal. Yes there’s a frantic fuzz around ‘Face Of Bear’ but ‘Treasure Train’ bleeps and beats like a computer winding down rather than raging into overdrive and interludes like ‘Broken Trail’ and ‘Rotting Horse’ seem to have abandoned those SNES sounds altogether. Not quite pony, but far too sane and samey to bother screaming yourself hoarse over.
