Simpson, how much cash did Lucozade pony up for the ad?
''Well it's kind of yet to be seen as the ad was originally made for Irish cinema, then it moved onto TV and if it comes to the UK then there will be another payment. It is not that much by the time the sync people and label take their cut but we can get a round of drinks in and buy some strings. These things can be a lot of money if they are for big commercials worldwide, but it was us against Muse apparently for this and I guess we were cheaper!''
Do you now get free energy drinks on tour?
''Good question, got to ask that – we get free Jagermeister on every tour which would make an interesting drinking partner to Lucozade I'm sure. If we can take the Jagerbomb to the next level then I'm game!''
But seriously, how did this whole thing come about?
''It's one of those bizarre how did this happen scenarios. Basically our label and distributors have completed a new sync deal with a publisher and the first we knew was that we had been put forward and were down to the last two and then suddenly we were told we got it!''
Any adverts you would not let your songs go to?
''Well I'm not sure being 'that band from the Tampax advert' would be particularly great for the street credentials. Those sort of things are probably best avoided though it could show a sensitive side to the band which might work wonders alongside our nice guy image!''
Not sure fella. Stick with the fizzy pop we reckon.
