Rock Sound makes contact with Bullet For My Valentine drummer Michael Thomas, also known as Moose, just as a Parcelforce representative arrives at his door to deliver a parcel. Christmas is looming and his internet shopping is bearing fruit. However, domestic blisses such as these have been few and far between as the band have not stopped despite being out of the limelight for the past few months. ''We started doing production in September 2006,'' recalls the drummer. ''We broke up sessions between tours for most of 2007. I would not have minded a bit of time off personally but unfortunately you do not have the luxury of time off being in a band these days. Everyone wants more whether it be tours or music, iTunes want exclusive tracks, Japan want an five extra tracks for the release and there is no such thing as a B-side so we are in an odd position where we have to produce more and more quicker and quicker. This album is done but we are already thinking about album three but we have not even started touring this record.''

The band are as busy as ever but it is hard for them to complain as they feared for a time that they might be done for as Matt Tuck's vocal problems hampered the recording of 'Scream Aim Fire'. ''We are al so glad that Matt's voice came back,'' continues Moose. ''There was a time where I would wake up at night shitting myself that his voice was gone forever and that we had blown it already. Thankfully he found a vocal coach who could diagnose what was going on with him. We originally planned to release the album in August sometime but we did not want to put out a record where the music was brilliant and the vocals were scratchy so we took a bit longer to make sure we could get the best out of Matt's voice.''

The road back for Tuck was hard and it took the band turning everything down to help him find his feet once more. ''We went into rehearsals and instead of having everything up so loud we turned everything down and tried to find his voice when we were not playing so hard rather than trying to go from nothing to full blast,'' he remembers. ''It was not done under the advice of a vocal coach, we just thought after his tonsils were taken out we should try and crawl before we make him try to walk.''

Bullet For My Valentine not only have a new record, they also have a new perspective on what being in a band is about. Their fragile time has made them reassess their attitude with the media and what they say in public. ''Matt's voice definitely put things in perspective for us,'' admits the drummer. ''We have grown up a lot so we are going to take it one day at a time. We made a lot of mistakes during our first record, we stand by all the stuff we said but these days we keep it to ourselves. We see new bands coming out and mouthing off about other bands and it seems childish to us, but we were that band once. What we say now stays between Bullet For My Valentine and our crew, we have a good old laugh about it but we don't do that in the press anymore.''

So the band are now grown up, mature, responsible. The interview ends as Moose announces to Rock Sound, ''Gotta go, I'm off to Toys R Us now.''. The more things change...
